ASSIST-Fertility, UK provides therapeutic services for couples contemplating or undergoing fertility programme. DR OBY's MESSAGE: TIME IS OF ESSENCE IN FERTILITY TREATMENT SUCCESS RATE: ACT NOW!!

The chart below shows 'Age versus Outcome' of fertility treatment (Datta, 2018). The study offered that there is an inverse relationship between age and positive outcome to fertility treatment. Hence, the earlier infertility is diagnosed and treatment commenced, the better the outcome! The barriers (psychological, cultural, religious, medical, financial etc) to early diagnosis need to be identified and persistently dismantled if we are to meet our goal of increasing the success rate of fertility treatments.


This year's ISMAAR International Congress was held at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, London. It was the 9th World Congress on Mild Approach in Assisted Reproduction and it marked the 40th anniversary of human In-vitro fertilisation (IVF) with the first 'test-tube baby' (Louise brown) present to grace the occasion (See her picture below)

Dr Geeta Nargund (Incumbent ISMAAR President, UK)


Dr Geeta Nargund is the Founder and Medical Director  of CREATE Fertility, UK and the Lead Consultant for Reproductive Medicine at St George’s Hospital NHS Trust in London. She is the President of the International Society for Mild Approaches in Assisted Reproduction (ISMAAR). 


In her Welcome Remark at the 9th ISMAAR International Congress, Dr Geeta reiterated to practitioners the primary aims of ISMAAR which are to promote safer, affordable, woman-friendly and milder approaches in assisted reproduction and IVF. Hence, making conception achievable for couples who desire to have children but could not do so naturally.

June, your opening speech at the congress was indeed inspirational. Bravo!! for the great work you are doing at WIE Network (Women: Inspiration & Enterprise).

Dr Pasquale is a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Reproductive Sciences at Yale University School of Medicine, USA. He is also the  director at Yale University Fertility Center.  His works and achievements definitely go for him; very lively and passionate at what he does.  He is a great blessing to the field of Reproductive medicine!!

Dr Anja Pinborg  and Dr Oby Osuchukwu 


Dr Anja Pinborg is a professor in  reproductive medicine at Rigshospitalet, University of Copenhagen, Denmark. She is past president for Nordic Fertility Society. She is the current editor in chief for Danish Medical Journal (DMJ) and section editor for RBMOnline. 


Dr Anja is such a dynamic and power-packed speaker. She is interested in the Peri-natal outcomes in assisted reproductive treatments. Amazing!
